How to Play Farkle AKA 10,000
The Goal
Be the first player to score 10,000 points. Once a player reaches the target, other players get one final turn to try and beat their score.
This gameplay is based on how my son taught me; there are plenty of variants out in the wild.
Your Turn: The Basics
- Roll the Dice, click “Roll Dice” to begin your turn. All available dice are rolled.
- Select Scoring Dice, after your roll you must select at least one scoring die or combination. If you can’t, that’s a “Farkle” and you score zero for the turn.
- Bank or Roll Again, once you have selected scoring dice you choose to:
- Bank Points, click “Bank Points” to lock them into your total score. Your turn ends.
- Roll Again, set aside your selection and roll the rest. If you Farkle, you lose the turn’s points.

Important Rules
- Farkle: No scoring dice equals a Farkle, you lose the turn’s points.
- Hot Dice: If you score on every die, drop one from play and roll the rest. Continue until you bank or Farkle.
- Final Die: With one die left, rolling 1 or 5 auto‑banks and ends your turn; any other face is a Farkle.
Playing Tips & Strategy
- Know When to Quit: Smaller, consistent gains often trump gambling for huge scores.
- Chase the Ones: They’re the most reliable scoring dice.
- Play the Scoreboard: Adjust your risk based on your position.
